Soil temperature - 43 to 47 degrees F.
Mollic epipedon - 7 to 12 inches thick, includes all of or the upper part of Bt horizon.
Thickness of A and Bt horizons and depth to bedrock- 10 to 20 inches.
Control section - Clay content: 25 to 35 percent.
Rock fragments: 15 to 50 percent, mainly pebbles and cobbles with weighted average less than 35 percent.
Reaction - Slightly acid to slightly alkaline.
A horizon - Value: 4 or 5 dry, 2 or 3 moist.
Chroma: 2 or 3 dry or moist.
Bt horizon - Value: 5 or 6 dry, 3 or 4 moist.
Chroma: 3 or 4 dry, 2 to 4 moist.
Texture: Gravelly loam, gravelly clay loam, very gravelly clay loam or cobbly clay loam.
COMPETING SERIES: These are the Bearskin (UT), Beden (OR), Curtis Creek (UT), Parsnip (OR), and Segura (NV) series. Bearskin soils have a sandy clay loam argillic horizon. Beden soils contain 5 to 20 percent glass and have an aridic soil moisture regime. Curtis Creek soils have a Bt horizon with hue of 2.5YR or 5YR. Parsnip soils contain 0 to 15 percent rock fragments. Segura soils have 18 to 25 percent clay in their control section.
GEOGRAPHIC SETTING: Teguro soils are on foothills and mountain side slopes and range to 3,500 feet in Oregon. These soils formed in residuum from rhyolitic tuff, rhyolite, andesite and basalt. Slopes are 2 to 50 percent. Elevations are 6,000 to 8,000 feet. The climate is cool semi-arid with cool moist winters and warm dry summers. Mean annual precipitation is 12 to 16 inches; mean annual temperature is 40 to 46 degrees F., and the frost-free season is 50 to 90 days.
GEOGRAPHICALLY ASSOCIATED SOILS: These are the Cleavage and Jobpeak soils. Jobpeak soils lack an argillic horizon. Cleavage soils are loamy-skeletal.
DRAINAGE AND PERMEABILITY: Well drained; medium or rapid runoff; moderately slow permeability.
USE AND VEGETATION: Woodland and wildlife habitat. The vegetation is mainly burned singleleaf pinyon pine with an understory of mountain big sagebrush, Idaho fescue, bluebunch wheatgrass and pine bluegrass.
DISTRIBUTION AND EXTENT: Western and central Nevada, southeastern Oregon. The soils are of small extent. MLRA 26, 27, 24, 23 and 10.
MLRA OFFICE RESPONSIBLE: Reno, Nevada
SERIES ESTABLISHED: Storey County Area, Nevada, l985.
